Anyone who has ridden the Gorafe trails knows: this enclave of the Granada Plateau is not only one of the most spectacular landscapes in southern Europe, it's also one of the most demanding for off-road driving. Its extreme topography and soil composition make this area a true natural testing ground for all-terrain vehicles.
Located between Guadix and Baza, the Gorafe Desert stretches out like a labyrinth of gullies, ravines, badlands, and cliffs, shaped over thousands of years by water and wind erosion. Its mostly clayey terrain behaves very differently depending on the climate, something to keep in mind before setting out to explore.

Above all, "The Good, The Bad and The Fugly" convoys will be an experience like no other. You'll cross a stunning variety of beautiful scenery with awesome people, heading off to seek gold and a good time! It's about the unique experience of being in the first convoy of its kind – adventurers embarking on a treasure hunt to Treasure Island Beach. You'll travel in groups of no more than 5 vehicles at a time, meeting up along the way until the next fantastic nightly stopover (3 on each route til The Badlands)

Currently, we have two convoy routes, the '4x4' and 'Camper' routes, both thoroughly checked by experienced travellers. The wonderful campsites along each route are truly pulling out all the stops to give the convoys a warm welcome, with music, special menus, and regional produce.

Your Adventure Community

The convoys already consist of some incredible people: musicians, entertainers, medics, mechanics, well-experienced world travelers, and those venturing abroad for the first time. You'll benefit from skill sharing, advice, and help on a private WhatsApp and Facebook Group, as well as updates via a private email group. Convoys also have access to a 24-hour bilingual helpline for added peace of mind. This is going to be an epic adventure!

What is this convoy from the UK to The Badlands about?

How much is it?

How long does it take?

Well, it's bunch of adventurers heading off to the most exciting event of the year! A gathering of 4x4, overland, and camper vehicles in the Almeria desert. Including shoot outs, can can dancers in the saloon, and top live music, in the iconic film sets of the spaghetti westerns.

How much to go?

Well, Convoy tickets, including full entry and camping at The Badlands Weekender, entry to The Treasure Hunt at Treasure Island Beach, and The Mojacar Music Mile, are £150 for bikes, £200 for the Camper Convoy, and £240 for the 4x4 Convoy. Not bad eh?!

You are responsible for your travel costs etc.

How long does it take?

The main Convoys from the UK leave Portsmouth on the 22.00 hrs on the 12th October 2025. Meeting the other convoys at Sad Hill Cemetery in Northern Spain on 14th Oct, and heading down to The Badlands with 3 overnight stops. Badlands Weekender is 17-19th, and the Treasure Hunt the 20th October. For the full experience, there is the Mojacar Music Mile Tuesday 21- Saturday the 25th.

So basically 2 weeks, plus your journey home.

Some people are journeying on to Morocco also.

Absolutely yes!!!! The convoys are for all levels, and all types of vehicle, from first timers with car-tents, to expedition trucks that have travelled the globe. There will be mechanics, medics, musicians and a 24 hr helpline, so you will not be on your own!

Great news, we are part of the Crew!

So chuffed to confirm the The GIBRALTAR CONVOY!!!

Led by the rock solid team at MarocAtlasGib4x4 who do some really awesome work (check them out!!!).
